SOTHEBY’S ASIA WEEK: FALL 2017
Sotheby’s is Delighted to Announce Asia Week,
Taking Place in New York, September 8th – 16th.
Featuring pieces dating from the Neolithic period to the early 20th century, Sotheby’s Asia Week auctions
offer the finest examples of Asian art. Important Chinese Art presents a variety of exceptional Chinese ceramics
and works of art, including imperial Qing porcelain, Ming dynasty sculpture, finely carved jades, early
ceramics and lacquer. With many pieces from important private collections, highlights include an extremely
rare “Ding” carved “peony” vase, a Yongzheng mark and period celadon-glazed double-gourd vase,
and an important group of Tang sancai vessels from an esteemed Japanese private collection.
Fine Classical Chinese Paintings & Calligraphy offers an outstanding group of works with impeccable
provenance,sourced from private collections worldwide. Highlights include paintings and calligraphy
by Dong Qichang, Wang Hui, Shen Zongjing, He Shaoji and many more. The sale is joined by modern
paintings by Huang Binhong, Wu Hufan, Zhang Daqian, Xie Zhiliu and Chen Peiqiu.
The season will conclude with Saturday at Sotheby’s: Asian Art, presenting over 400 lots of
collectible and decorative Chinese, Japanese and Korean art at attractive estimates ranging
from $100 to $50,000. Offerings include ceramics, jade, Buddhist sculpture, textiles,
huanghuali and hardwood furniture, Chinese paintings and calligraphy.
