Moving Forward, Together: A Note From Our Chairman

Today we  had a fantastic turnout for our company-wide town hall. Management would like to give a shout-out to all of our agents who are learning new tools every day so that they can be present and work to the best of their abilities during this situation. We’d like to share with you the following communication from Donald Pearson, the chairman of Kurfiss Sotheby’s International Realty. If you aren’t aware, he took over the company in 1991 when it was known as Kurfiss Real Estate. We are grateful for his leadership during times like this.

A LETTER FROM OUR CHAIRMAN

Here at Kurfiss Sotheby’s International Realty, we are working full time through the Covid-19 outbreak. With the help our of agents, staff, title companies and lenders, we have been able to safely and successfully complete the closings that were scheduled ahead of the quarantine and shelter-in-place provisions in the great Philadelphia area. All of our activities to support must be performed according to the federal and state guidelines

For those buyers and sellers going under contract, the Pennsylvania Association of Realtors (PAR) has issued an addendum that effectively asks our buyers and sellers to acknowledge that the normal timelines for closings may have to be extended due to limitations on inspections, appraisals and other parts of a real-estate purchase. Stephanie Biello, our associate broker and the current president of the Greater Philadelphia Association of Realtors, and Linda Danese, our broker of record, have kept our agents and staff informed of these adjustments to our business practices.

As we all take care to keep the coronavirus from spreading, we also look forward to the day when business practices return to normal. In the meantime, we are helping sellers prepare for that time, conducting meetings with clients online, sending them comparable properties and market analyses via email and advising them on how to prepare their homes for their photo shoots. Our agents are being the professional advisors I know them to be while following the guidelines set forth by the state and PAR.
