A Look at Top Home Sales in Bucks County in 2020

Rockwood Farm
This Solebury Township residence with guest house on 50 acres sold in 2020, closing in October as the most expensive home sale year to date. A December sale in Upper Makefield eclipsed it. This home was listed by Linda Danese of Kurfiss Sotheby’s International Realty.

There may be no greater indicator of the wild demand for homes in Bucks County than the residential sales that took place in 2020 at the $1,000,000 and above mark. There were 216 transactions at or above $1,000,000 vs. only 139 in 2019, an increase of 55%. Across the board for homes in our local luxury market, demand was stronger than in years past, with 62 homes closing at $1,500,001 to $2,995,000, and 8 selling for $3,000,000 or higher. In 2019, only 3 homes sold for more than $3,000,000.

“There’s no question this was an unusual year for everyone with a particularly large number of buyers coming in from New York and New Jersey,” says Donald Pearson, chairman of Kurfiss Sotheby’s International Realty. “We had a record-setting year, yet as I’ve said since May, it is hard to feel celebratory given the impact of the pandemic on our country.”

The most expensive home sold in Bucks County in 2020, according to Bright MLS, is an 8,000-square-foot historical estate in Upper Makefield Township on just under 25 acres. It closed for $6,600,000, with the seller represented by Mary Walrond and Linda Danese, and the buyer represented by Linda Danese, both of Kurfiss Sotheby’s International Realty. Rounding out the top 10 sales in Bucks County were three estate/farm properties in Solebury, also represented by Kurfiss, a Waterview Place condominium, a sprawling home on N. Main Street in New Hope, a 10-acre estate in Upper Makefield, and three special farm properties, one each in Plumstead, Tinicum, Springfield townships.
