2707 River Road (New Hope, Pennsylvania)
Price: $5.6 million

While the main house on this Bucks County estate was built in 1820, the property dates back to 1682, when William Penn granted George Pownall a 1,000-acre tract along the Delaware River. Pownall was tragically killed by a falling tree as he tried to clear the land. But his son George Jr. eventually settled here and began mining limestone. Today, it’s a more manageable 60 acres, although the remains of the original lime kilns are still visible.
